고스트 아미(Ghost Army)는 제2차 세계대전 동안 연합군의 부대로, 주로 예술가들로 구성되어 적군을 속이는 기만 작전을 수행했다. 이 고스트 아미의 병사들은 평상시에는 건축가, 화가, 배우, 무대 디자이너로 활동하던 사람들이었으며, 이들은 군대 내에서 예술적 기술을 활용해 팽창식 탱크, 가짜 비행기, 포격 소리를 내는 스피커 등을 제작해 실제 군대에서 적을 유인하는 역할을 했다.

이러한 전쟁의 미학과 가상적 서사는 예술가가 전통적인 문화 구조를 벗어나 싸움에 참여할 때 얻을 수 있는 힘을 보여준다. 이로써 예술가는 가장 잔혹한 체제와 맞서 싸우고, 집단의 의식을 변화시키며, 역사의 흐름에 영향을 미칠 수 있게 된다.

The Ghost Army was a battalion of Allied forces during World War II, primarily composed of artists recruited to carry out diversionary operations against Axis troops.

In civilian life, these ghost soldiers were revealed to be architects, painters, actors, and set designers. Within the army, using their artistic skills, they created equipment such as inflatable tanks, fake airplanes, and loudspeakers that broadcast artillery sounds to lure the enemy away from the real troops.

This aesthetic, this speculative narrative of war, reveals one thing: the power that an artist can acquire when they step outside the traditional structures of culture to engage in the struggle. They become capable of confronting the most barbaric regimes, influencing collective consciousness, and shaping the course of history.
